| top ten email marketing mistakes Email marketing can be a very cost-effective method of building relationships with customers, and finding new ones, if implemented correctly. The best approach starts with a thoughtful plan and usually requires more time and effort to develop content than most marketers anticipate. Avoid these common mistakes and you will have better success with your email campaign. 1. Sending messages to people who have not opted in Without permission you not only risk losing customer goodwill and inviting CAN-SPAM penalties, you could end up blacklisted by ISPs that refuse all mail coming from your domain if spamming complaints have been lodged against you. 2. Not using an email marketing tool Sending bulk emails from your personal or company account is a bad idea. Services like Constant Contact, Vertical Response and icontact use advanced methods to ensure high delivery rates and offer tools to help you create content, get statistics and manage your lists. 3. Making it hard to unsubscribe Allowing your users to remove themselves easily is just as important as getting them to sign up in the first place. Don’t try to keep people on your email list who don’t want to be there. Remember, every time an unresponsive user opts out, your response rate and value of your list rises. | ||||

4. Sending poor content People accept advertising in print and broadcast media because they want the content. The same principle holds true in email. The more ads your email contains, the faster people will delete them. Providing interesting and topical content will get their attention long enough to market successfully. 5. Emails full of errors The amount of errors found in email is astonishing. Misspelled words, poor grammar, broken links and other errors show a lack of professionalism. Carefully edit and proof your documents so these avoidable mistakes don’t happen. click here for more tips on avoiding email marketing mistakes |

the way we were Rubylith, border tape and PMTs, oh my! A lot has changed since we were founded in 1960. Gone forever are the days of waxing up layouts, kerning letters by hand and going home every night covered in tiny chunks of border tape. Computers have changed the way we work forever and as those who walked these hallowed halls before us, we embrace change as an opportunity to grow. We hope to be here embracing change for another 50 years! |
